ICE Pledges 400 Percent Increase in Immigration Crackdown on Businesses

"I want to see a 400 percent increase in work site operations," said Tom Homan, deputy director of ICE, at a press conference in Washington D.C. "We're not just talking about arresting the aliens at these work sites, we are also talking about employers who knowingly hire people who are unauthorized to work."

Federal immigration agents are escalating efforts to crack down on companies hiring undocumented workers and the staffing companies that are facilitating illegal hires. New data released last week shows Immigration and Customs Enforcement visited 122 businesses over the past five days. It's the largest sweep so far this year. Are you next?

ICE made close to 38,000 noncriminal arrests in the government's 2017 fiscal year thus far, more than twice the number in the previous year. The category includes suspects facing possible charges as well as those without criminal records. The agency also arrested over 105,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions. Do you know how many workers in your company would not pass an eVerify screening?
